Buying a home through Susan Wise was easier than I ever hoped to imagine. People love to scare you with their homebuying horror stories and so when my wife and I started to think about buying a home we became nervous. Could we trust that we were getting a good deal? Would we be swamped with debt? When we called Susan and she took us around to some open houses, all that apprehension melted away. During our walk-throughs, she would point out issues with construction, discuss the eccentricities of tree law, and look up the home’s permit history with the county and so much more. Once we decided on a property that we loved, Susan and her team made the paperwork very accessible and gave us a timeline of events that we could easily manage while my wife and I worked our fulltime jobs. Our first offer on our favorite house was accepted three days after it was placed! I’ve never heard of that happening, and I think it was largely due to Susan’s experience in the county, and the relationships she’s worked to forge. Susan Wise just sold our property at 2409 Tolowa Trail in Placerville. Throughout the whole process, Susan was the consummate professional — skillful, knowledgeable, practical. To start with, she came up with an excellent valuation of our property which indicated to us that she really appreciated its unique qualities. More impressive yet, was when the appraiser’s estimate for the property came in spot on! Before listing the property, Susan went way above and beyond — she spent a lot of time doing some deep cleaning. She even added drawer and cabinet pulls in the kitchen to give it a more modern look. She brought in lots of furnishings from her warehouse to stage the house. She removed a rather unsightly wood pile. She hauled away a travel trailer that we were concerned about moving. Whenever some problem came up, her response was always “I’ll take care of it.” For instance, at her encouragement, we left quite a few pieces of furniture that we didn’t know what to do with, and Susan happily found good homes for them all. Susan also gave us good recommendations on whom to hire to perform various inspections (house, roof, pest, etc.) and we were able to make some of the necessary repairs ahead of the listing. Then, once the listing went live, she scheduled an open house for the next weekend, which increased interest about the property. We received two offers within the first week. Susan again showed her expertise in the negotiation process which led to our accepting a full price offer. Susan kept us well-informed all through the escrow proceedings. She was always quick to respond to questions. She was invariably polite, cheerful and upbeat. We are all very grateful that we had Susan working for us. She secured an excellent price for our property and she made the whole process smooth and easy.
